About the artist

Anne Scarlett, Artist

My muses, Topaz and Sylvie, watching as I work on my laptop. Don’t let their serious, contemplative pose fool you– they are as mischievous as the rest of us!

Raised in the Midwest, Anne Scarlett travels the world in search of distinctive photos. From the Chilean mountains to the Costa Rican rain forests to the Moroccan sands, she has captured the story of the lands – through the people and the architecture that inhabit them.

“Over the last decade, I have used travel as a form of escape– from everyday life, from tragedy and sorrow, from my own self”, says Anne. “Eventually realizing the latter was impossible, I adopted a well-known quote as my personal motto: ‘The real voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.’ (Marcel Proust). While I still travel frequently, my expectations have now evolved. I expect to live fully and learn wonders. I expect to return. And I expect to stick by me.”

Anne’s education and professional background contributes to her sensitivity to design, proportion, color, and spatial relationships – all integral components of photography. With an M.S. in Communications from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Interior Design from Indiana University, Anne has spent her career working within the Chicago architectural industry. For 13 years, Anne served as the Director of Business Development for several reputable firms, followed by two years of working as an independent consultant while actively pursuing her photography passion. Anne then joined ZweigWhite as Principal and Director of the Marketing Consulting Group.

In fall 2006, Anne re-launched her own consulting practice – SCARLETT CONSULTING, offering hands-on advisory services specifically to the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

Anne maintains a commitment to photography- creating striking imagery for fine art and stock use.
